Traverse City - The Traverse City North Stars scored twice in the first period and never looked back Saturday night upending the Marquette Rangers 7-2 in North American Hockey League action at Centre Ice Arena.

Eric McLintock led the charge for Traverse City, scoring four goals and adding an assist on the night for a five point evening.

Marquettes goals were scored by Josh Bussell, his third as a Ranger since returning to the club in early October; and Bobby Bodette. For Bodette, it was his first goal in a Marquette Rangers uniform.

With the win, Traverse City 4 1, 19pts.) trails Marquette by a single point for the top spot in the NAHL North Division.

Traverse City goaltender Drew Strandberg had a quiet evening facing only 16 shots, stopping 14 of them. Ranger netminders Kevin Kissaw and Lukas Hafner combined to make 38 saves on 45 efforts by the North Stars.

The two teams will conclude their weekend series Sunday afternoon at 1:05 at Centre Ice Arena.
