Rangers Host Oshawa Generals for the First Preseason Game

Kitchener, Ont. - The Kitchener Rangers are set to begin the 2023 OHL preseason on Sunday when the club hosts the Oshawa Generals at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium at 2 p.m. The Rangers will play six preseason games, this will be the first of three played at home at The Aud.

Scouting the Rangers:

Of the 23 players on the pre-season roster, 15 are returning players from the 2022-23 season who beat the Windsor Spitfires in four straight games of a best-of-seven playoff series.

Returning point leaders for the Blueshirts are Carson Rehkopf (Seattle Kraken) who recorded 59 points (30G, 29A) in 68 games, and Matthew Sop who tallied 56 points (23G, 33A) in 67 games.

The blueline holds strong with Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver Canucks) who finished fourth in points for the Rangers last season with 57 points (6G, 51A) in 68 games, and Tomas Hamara (Ottawa Senators) recorded 17 points (2G, 15A) in 56 games.

Between the pipes, Jackson Parsons returns for his third season with the Rangers after recording a cumulative 3.93 goals against average (GAA), and 0.890 save percentage (SAV%) in 27 games played for the Rangers over the last two seasons.

Scouting the Generals:

The Generals' three returning point-getters are Kitchener native, Stuart Rolofs who recorded 61 points (32G, 29A) in 62 games played last season, Calum Ritchie (Colorado Avalanche) who tallied 59 points (24G, 35A) in just as many games, and Beckett Sennecke who had 55 points (20G, 35A) in 61 games.

Head-to-Head:

Kitchener and Oshawa last played on March 3rd at the Tribute Communities Centre with the Rangers taking the game 6-4. In their previous ten matches, Kitchener leads the series 5-4-1-0 dating back to the 2016-2017 season.

Ticket Information:

Fans can purchase tickets for $5.00 (General Admission, one ticket price for all ages, children under the age of 2 are free) Sunday at Fan Fest. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Make-A-Wish Canada, which works with communities across the country to provide children with critical illnesses the opportunity to experience their most heartfelt wishes.

The Rangers go on the road for the first time this pre-season facing the Brantford Bulldogs on Wednesday, September 6th. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at the Brantford Civic Centre.
