Marquette Rangers News Release

Traverse City - A four goal outburst in the second period by Traverse City was the key for the North Stars in a 7 - 4 win Monday afternoon over the Marquette Rangers in North American Hockey League North Division play.

With the win, Traverse City (17 - 11 - 2, 38pts.) and Marquette (18 - 11, 38pts.) are now tied atop the NAHL North Division heading into Tuesday second game of their two-game series.

Doug Clifford and Garrett Thompson lead the offensive charge for Traverse City with two goals apiece, while Eric Rivard, Nick Shkireli and Mathew Zaremba chipped in with a goal each in the victory. Clifford and Thompson each added one assist to record three-point afternoons for Anthony Palumbo's club.

Josh Bussell and Scott Henegar each scored a goal apiece for Marquette, while newcomer Danny Wood added a pair of markers in his Rangers debut. Wood played 29 games this season, and all of last season, with the Albert Lea (Minn.) Thunder of the NAHL Central Division before joining Marquette over the holiday break.

Kevin Kissaw saw 36 shots on the afternoon in net for the Rangers, stopping 29 of them while his counterpart Chris Paliafito for Traverse City made 25 saves on 29 Marquette shots.

Marquette finished the afternoon 1 for 5 on the power play; Traverse City went 0 for 1 with the man advantage.

The top spot in the North Division will be up for grabs when the two teams meet Tuesday at 3:00 PM at Centre Ice. All Rangers games are available with streaming video and audio from B2 Networks through the teams' website www.marquetterangers.com.
