
Rangers fall at Fargo

Fargo, North Dakota - The Marquette Rangers Junior A hockey team had a 2-1 lead at the 2:03 mark of the second period in their North American Hockey League with the Fargo-Moorhead Jets Friday night.
It was short lived.
The Jets of the NAHL's Central Division exploded for four goals in the remaining 17:53 of the second period and cruised to a 6-3 win over the Rangers at the John E. Carlson Coliseum.
Marquette's James Gallagher opened the scoring from Nic Weight and Aaron Pietila on an even strength goal at 4:20 of the first period for a 1-0 Marquette lead, only to see Fargo-Moorhead tie the game at 7:32 of the period on a short-handed goal by Marc Harrie.
Marquette regained the lead when Collin Saint-Onge scored an unassisted goal at 2:03 of the second period, but after that the night belonged to the Jets.
Four straight goals by Fargo-Moorhead sealed the night for the Jets as they improved to 9-8-1 on the year and held their position in third place in the NAHL Central Divison.
With the loss Marquette is now 9-7 on the year.
Beau Christian, a Moorhead, Minnesota native stopped 29 shots in a losing effort while his counterpart Elliot Oakland improved his record to 2-0 against Marquette and 8-6 on the season with 33 saves in a winning effort.
Derek Grogan also scored for the Rangers who will again face the Jets Saturday night at 8:30 Eastern.
