Rangers Announce New Winter Scene Program

The Kitchener Rangers believe in building a dynamic community. With the arrival of winter it is important to keep active and enjoy all the season has to offer.

The Kitchener Rangers New Winter Scene program will support and promote an active winter community.

Winter Scene currently provides financial support to the opening and maintenance of 41 local outdoor rinks as well as player and mascot involvement with special winter events, carnivals and parades.

City of Kitchener Outdoor Rinks

Winter Scene provides a financial contribution that supports the opening and maintenance of 40 Kitchener outdoor winter rinks. For a listing of these rinks please visit www.kitchener.ca/outdoorrinks.

City of Waterloo, Rink in the Square

Winter Scene provides a financial contribution that supports the opening and maintenance of the Rink in the Square. Enjoy getting active with family and friends Uptown Waterloo. Click here for directions.

Hockey Day in Rangers Nation

The goal of Hockey Day in Rangers Nation is to engage 10 year old, Major Atom House League hockey players from Waterloo Region and allow them the opportunity to participate in a Rangers "Game Day Experience". The 1st Annual Hockey Day in Rangers Nation will take place on Sunday, January 23, 2011. 14 house league teams who have been selected through a lottery earlier this season, will experience what it is like to be a Kitchener Ranger and have the opportunity to play a full game against a team from outside of their own house league.

Winter Community Events

Celebration on Ice

The city of Kitchener wants to celebrate winter and all those who help support our outdoor rinks with a celebration on ice, Saturday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at Civic Square, Kitchener City Hall.

Supported by Active Kitchener, the Dec. 11 event is fun for the whole family, with skating demonstrations, mini-hockey games, children's entertainment and barbecues by the Lions Club. Active Kitchener encourages involvement in physical activity and sport in Kitchener.

Dan the Music Man performs at 11 a.m. Special guest appearances include the Kitchener Rangers, who will be signing autographs from 1-2 p.m.; K-W Glee, who will perform at 12:30 p.m. and Alisha Nauth, former contestant on Canadian Idol. Local choirs will also perform.

There will be also be a free draw for new Olympic mittens, as well as a Kitchener Rangers' prize pack and a grand prize of tickets for a family of five for the pre-competition 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship Team Canada versus Team Finland game on Thursday, Dec. 23 at The Aud.

New Year's Eve Downtown Kitchener

Enjoy a skating party with the Kitchener Rangers mascots from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, December 31st at Civic Square, Kitchener City Hall.

Christmas Parades

Enjoy the Kitchener Rangers float and mascots at numerous holiday parades in and around our community.
