Rampage to hold tryouts for Rage dance team

The Rampage will host FREE tryouts for the 2006 RAGE Dance Team at Champion Health & Fitness in Rockford, Michigan at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 2. Dancers wishing to audition must be high school graduates and at least 18 years old by January 1, 2006.

Dance ability is essential and high school or college dance or cheerleading experience is helpful. Selections for the group are made based on dance ability, appearance and personality through a three-round process (detailed below).

The RAGE Dance Team performs at all Rampage home games and makes many public appearances throughout the West Michigan area.

Applications must be received no later than September 29 and must include a recent non-returnable photo.

Audition Information
When: Sunday, October 2, 2005 @ 9:30 am
Where: Champion Health and Fitness - official practice facility for the RAGE Dance team
515 East Division; Rockford, Michigan (corner of Northland Drive & 10 Mile Road)
- Auditions will be held in three rounds.
- Round One: You'll be asked to perform a series of skills (i.e. leaps, pirouettes and jumps). For this round, you must wear dance pants, a sports bra (two if you need more support) and any type of dance shoe. Those dancers who display outstanding skills will be asked to continue on to the second round.
- Round Two: Dancers will learn one routine that reflects the RAGE style. During this time you will be observed; we will be looking for those qualitites that make for a strong team: poise, showmanship, dance technique, personality and energy.
- Round Three: You will be given a 60-minute break to freshen up and then perform this routine for a panel of judges. You will need to wear a sports bra and lycra/boy-cut shorts (tasteful) with tights. Be certain that your hair is down and styled in a way that is flattering to you. Make-up should be glamorous. This round will also include an interview.
- Other Important Info: Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled time to stretch and warm-up. Visible body art will negatively affect your scoring - please use a cosmetic cover-up.

Commitment:
- Practices and games are mandatory. Anyone unable to commit to the practice/game schedule need not apply.
- There will be two practices per week (Wednesdays (7:30 to 10:00 p.m.) and Sundays (11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), beginning on October 5, 2005 for new team members.
- The performance season begins the last week of January and ends mid-May, although our season may be extended if the Rampage make the playoffs. The games are traditionally held on Friday or Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons.
- You will be asked to sign a contract outlining your responsibilities as an employee of the Rampage. Each dancer will receive monetary compensation for their participation in the game presentation in addition to two tickets per game and free parking.
- You will be expected to participate in a number of promotional appearances throughout the season for which you will receive a stipend. You will also be expected to participate in additional appearances for non-profit groups on a non-paid basis.
