Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
PHOENIX - By winning their final three games of the regular season, the Grand Rapids Rampage punched their ticket to the Arena Football League postseason for the first time since 2003 last week. Tomorrow (June 30), they will look to win their first-ever road playoff game when they face the Arizona Rattlers in an American Conference Wild Card Round matchup.
In Grand Rapids' regular-season finale, the Rampage rolled to an 86-70 road win over the New Orleans VooDoo, securing a playoff berth while knocking the VooDoo out of the postseason picture. Defensive back William "Roc" Haith (Washington, D.C.) logged a pair of interceptions in the game, while quarterback James MacPherson (Tucson, Ariz.) accounted for 10 total touchdowns including three on the ground.
Grand Rapids enters Monday night's contest on a hot streak, as its offense has scored 233 points over the past three games. The AFL recognized the Rampage's recent success by honoring MacPherson and Brian Gowins (Birmingham, Ala.) as the Offensive Player of the Month and Kicker of the Month, respectively. The only other time Grand Rapids finished a season with three straight victories came in 2001, when the Rampage rode their hot streak all the way to the ArenaBowl XV title.
Rampage fans can hear every snap of Monday's game with play-by-play voice Joe Parson at RampageFootball.com beginning at 9:25 p.m. (EDT). Kickoff is slated for 9:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD.
