GRAND RAPIDS - The Grand Rapids Rampage have named a new Director of Dance to head up the Rage Dance Team for the upcoming 2009 Arena Football League season. Kimberly Herr, a former varsity pom/dance coach and current teacher at Forest Hills Central High School, will take the reins of West Michigan's premier dance team.
An East Kentwood High School graduate and former Central Michigan University Chippette co-captain, Herr brings extensive knowledge of dance in the West Michigan region. As the varsity pom/dance coach at Forest Hills Central from 1999-2007, she led the squad to four straight Universal Dance Association National Championships (2004-07) and a 2004 Midwest Regional Class A Runner-Up showing. During these years, Herr involved herself in numerous summer dance camps, helped run a variety of local, regional and national competitions and organized several team community service projects.
Herr received graduate degrees from Grand Valley State University in secondary education and educational leadership, and has served as a secondary English educator at Forest Hills Central for 19 years. She also serves as the school's junior/senior class advisor.
Auditions for the 2009 Rage Dance Team will take place on Nov. 2 beginning at 9 a.m. EST at the MVP Athletic Club in Rockford, Mich. Those interested in trying out can visit www.rampagefootball.com/danceteam/tryouts to sign up.
