Rampage Kickers Open Tryout Sunday
September 27, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
WHAT: The Grand Rapids Rampage are hosting a kickers-only open tryout in an effort to bolster their 2007 roster for the team's upcoming 10th Anniversary Season.
WHERE: The Soccer Spot, 3701 32nd St. SE, Kentwood, MI 49512
WHEN: Sunday, October 1, 2006
8 a.m.-11 a.m. EDT
THE STORY: The Rampage currently do not have a kicker under contract. Therefore, the team will look to tryouts such as this one to fill its training camp roster. The tryout is open to anyone, with a registration fee set at $60.
In the Arena Football League, goal posts are nine feet wide with a crossbar height of 15 feet; a markedly smaller target than the 18.5-foot-wide, 10-foot-high goal posts found in the NFL. In addition, punting is not allowed in the AFL, calling on kickers to be ready at any time to enter a game to attempt a field goal.
