Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League announced today the signing of offensive specialist Terrill Shaw to a one-year deal.

Shaw (6-0, 175, Southern Mississippi) returns for his third campaign with the Rampage after an injury plagued 2002 season. A high ankle sprain and foot injury limited the former Golden Eagle to nine games last season. Although limited with on-the-field time, Shaw was still able to finish fourth on the team in receptions (52), receiving yards (656) and receiving touchdowns (11).

Shaw, who ranks third all time on the Rampage's career receiving list in receptions (127), receiving yards (1,658) and receiving touchdowns (34), is best known for his rags-to-riches story in 2001. After being released by the Buffalo Destroyers, Shaw was signed by the Rampage and ended up leading the number one seed to an ArenaBowl title. He was named ArenaBowl XV MVP after tying an ArenaBowl record for receptions (12) and breaking an ArenaBowl record for touchdowns (5). Shaw's record-breaking performance caught the attention of the Kansas City Chiefs, who signed him as a free agent this past January. He was then allocated to NFL Europe's Berlin Thunder, but was released from his contract prior to the 2002 AFL season.

"Terrill demonstrated rare ability in our championship season. Unfortunately, his injury problems limited his playing time last season," said Michael Trigg, Rampage head coach and director of player operations. "A healthy #15 in the line-up gives Clint Dolezel a great target who makes spectacular catches and is a touchdown machine. Terrill, like our team, wants to get back to the top and his presence will help us head back in that direction."

After opening the 2003 season with back-to-back road contests, the Rampage kick off their home schedule with a 3 p.m. NBC affair against the New York Dragons on Sunday, Feb. 16. Full season and mini-plan ticket packages are currently available by calling the Rampage office at 1-888-595-4878.
