Rampage Host Streaking Orlando Predators Sunday at 2 p.m.
April 12, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
GRAND RAPIDS - The Grand Rapids Rampage stumbled last week in New York, ending a two-game winning streak while suffering their first road loss of the season. Tomorrow afternoon (April 13), West Michigan's very own Arena Football League team will return home to welcome the Orlando Predators in hopes of reaching the .500 mark once again.
After record-setting Week 4 and Week 5 performances in which Grand Rapids posted an AFL record 176 combined points in victories over the Kansas City Brigade and Los Angeles Avengers, the Rampage struggled early last week against the New York Dragons' vaunted defense. Grand Rapids failed to score in the first two quarters just one week after setting a franchise mark with 56 first-half points against the Avengers, and eventually fell, 63-34.
One bright spot was the performance of defensive back Ahmad Hawkins (Hampton, Va.), who logged a pair of interceptions including one that he brought back 42 yards for a touchdown. His four interceptions this season lead the club and already stand just two behind the Rampage single-season record set by Johnnie Harris in 2006. Meanwhile, Kenny Higgins (Long Beach, Calif.) also stood out against New York, posting a game-high 140 receiving yards and scoring a late touchdown on which he spun away from one tackle and turned a short gain into a 27-yard race to the end zone.
Orlando enters tomorrow's contest on a hot streak having won its last four games. Last week, the Predators knocked off the Central Division-leading Chicago Rush in overtime, 57-56. Sunday's game marks the first time Grand Rapids and Orlando have met since May 11, 2002.

Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. For additional information including updated schedules, rosters, and ticket options, visit RampageFootball.com.
