Grand Rapids Rampage News Release
GRAND RAPIDS - The Grand Rapids Rampage will welcome the Colorado Crush Saturday night (June 7) in their final regular-season home game of the 2008 Arena Football League season. With a victory, the Rampage can overtake Colorado for second place in the Central Division and move into fifth place in the American Conference.
Last week, Grand Rapids dropped out of the sixth and final playoff slot with a 63-56 loss to the Utah Blaze. The Rampage fell behind, 42-14, at halftime after surrendering 28 consecutive first-half points to the streaking Blaze. Utah, winners of four of its last five games, held onto the lead and crawled back into the playoff picture after beginning the season 0-9.
With the regular season drawing to a close, the Rampage kept their roster moves to a minimum, only placing fullback/defensive lineman Whitney Bell (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) on recallable waivers. Grand Rapids hopes its defensive front, which has recorded only one sack in its last five games, can pressure Crush quarterback John Dutton, who has been sacked only five times all season.
Saturday's game also marks Fan Appreciation Day presented by Huntington, and will feature a pregame street party beginning at 5 p.m. (EDT) outside of Van Andel Arena; an autograph signing session with Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith beginning at 6 p.m.; and dollar hot dogs, draft beers and Pepsis within the arena while supplies last.
Rampage fans unable to attend Saturday's game can hear every snap with play-by-play voice Joe Parson at RampageFootball.com beginning at 6:45 p.m. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. For additional information including updated schedules, rosters, and ticket options, visit RampageFootball.com.
