Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

GRAND RAPIDS - The Grand Rapids Rampage hold three first-round picks including the third-overall selection in the Arena Football League Dispersal Draft to take place this Friday (Oct. 26) beginning at 3 p.m. EDT. The draft contains players formerly under contract with the Austin Wranglers and Nashville Kats franchises, which recently announced their departures from the league.

Grand Rapids will select third overall due to its 4-12 record last season. The team also garnered two additional first-round picks - No. 9 and No. 16 overall - thanks to trades made in the spring of 2005. The Rampage acquired the rights to the Orlando Predators' ninth-overall pick along with offensive/defensive lineman Cecil Caldwell in exchange for offensive/defensive lineman William Carr on March 28. Two days later, Grand Rapids gained the rights to the Georgia Force's 16th-overall pick along with wide receiver/linebacker Dialleo Burks in exchange for wide receiver Chris Jackson.

The Rampage also hold the third selection of the second round (20th overall), third round (37th overall) and fourth round (54th overall). The pool of available players includes all 44 players under contract with Austin and Nashville following the official end of the 2007 AFL season. Teams will continue to make selections until every player has been selected or until all teams pass in one round.
