Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, Calif. - The JetHawks solidified an early lead with a seven-run rally in the fourth and held the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in check for a 12-7 victory on Tuesday night at The Hangar.

J.D. Davis went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in, and Mott Hyde and Sean McMullen drove in three runs each for the JetHawks (68-60). Alex Bregman also extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a fourth-inning triple. The game was the 25th of the season in which Lancaster scored at least 10 runs.

The JetHawks scored a run in each of the first two innings against Matt Shelton (1-2). Davis hit a RBI-single in the first, and Bregman provided a sacrifice fly in the second inning. Shelton lasted just three innings, surrendering five runs on five hits and five walks.

Spencer Navin homered off Akeem Bostick in the top of the third inning to bring the Quakes (70-58) within one run, but the JetHawks plated three runs in the bottom half. Brian Holberton hit a RBI infield single, Ruben Castro brought home a run on a groundout, and Marc Wik scored from third on a balk by Shelton.

In the fourth, Cody Bellinger hit a two-run homer and Paul Hoenecke added a RBI-single to cut Lancaster's lead to one. But the JetHawks immediately responded with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth with David Reid-Foley on the mound in relief. Bregman and Derek Fisher walked ahead of Davis, who delivered a RBI-single. Ronnie Mitchell then walked to load the bases, and Hyde hit a three-run triple to right-center. McMullen later hit a three-run homer to make the score 12-4.

Albert Minnis (3-4) replaced Bostick in the fifth and yielded a Bellinger RBI-single and a Jacob Scavuzzo sacrifice fly. But the left-hander held the Quakes scoreless over the following two innings, earning the win in relief.

Rancho Cucamonga's final run came on a solo home run by Scavuzzo in the top of the eighth against Troy Scribner. In the ninth, Andrew Walter gave up a one-out double but stranded the runner to complete the win for the JetHawks.

The series continues on Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Keegan Yuhl (4-0, 1.52) will pitch for the JetHawks opposite Rancho Cucamonga's Trevor Oaks (0-0, 4.91).
