
Rainmen Take Game One of Rogers Fan Cup

The Halifax Rainmen drew first blood in the win-loss column of the newly minted Rogers Fan Cup challenge, downing the Mill Rats 97-84 at the Metro Centre in Halifax.
After a short early lead by the Mill Rats, the Rainmen regrouped to take a 21-14 lead after the first quarter. Saint John dug themselves a 28-16 hole in the second quarter. Anthony Anderson's driving three point play gave the Mill Rats the lead again at 38-36. And Steve Deluca's three pointer beat the halftime buzzer and tied the score 44-44 a piece.
Halifax roared out of the gate after halftime on the strength of a 13-2 run to take a 57-46 lead. The lead ballooned to as many as 18 points and Halifax led 76-61 to start the fourth quarter. Saint John never recovered to mount a challenge.
The game also marked the debut of new Halifax Head Coach Mike Evans, who is now 1-0 in the PBL, and the Rainmen improve to 5-2. Saint John drops to 2-4.
The Mill Rats were led in scoring by Terry Martin with 21 points while Anthony Anderson and Rob Diggs chipped in 14 a piece. The Rainmen were led by Marshall Brown with 20.
The Mill Rats are home on February 3rd to host the division leading Quebec Kebs at 7:00pm. The February 4th home game has been rescheduled for February 11th and the opponent will be the Halifax Rainmen.
The Mill Rats will be making a special appearance at the Rothesay Atlantic Superstore tomorrow from 1-3pm to sign autographs. Come out and meet several Mill Rat players in person!
