Rain Washes out Jacks Sunday, Home Opener Set for Tuesday

The East Texas Pump Jacks picked up their first win of the season Saturday night and they were preparing for the sweep Sunday against the Woodlands Strykers. Mother Nature had other ideas, though.

The strong storms that swept through the Houston area left the Strykers Stadium field unplayable, so Sunday's game has been postponed.

Since the Pump Jacks do not visit the Woodlands for the remainder of the first half of the season, the game will be relocated to Driller Park.

The matchup will be made up as part of a doubleheader when the Strykers visit East Texas on June 23. The double-dip will begin at 6:05 p.m. Per Texas Collegiate League rules, the teams will play a pair of seven-inning games. Fans who already have tickets to Sunday's game will enjoy two games for the price of one.

East Texas opens their home schedule Tuesday, June 4, when they welcome the Acadiana Cane Cutters to historic Driller Park. The Jacks close out the series with the Cane Cutters on Wednesday.

With the home opener just two days away, the Pump Jacks are offering fans free tickets to the home opener. To receive up to four free tickets all you have to do is connect to the Pump Jacks through social media.

Like the Pump Jacks on Facebook and fill out the survey under the "Facebook Freebie" tab for two tickets. Then head over to Twitter, and follow the Pump Jacks @ETPJ. Send an email with your name, address, phone number, and Twitter handle to receive two more tickets. Entrees must be received by the end of the day on Monday, June 3, in order to be eligible to receive free tickets.

Thirsty Thursday returns on June 6 when the Jacks welcome the Victoria Generals in a rematch of the 2012 TCL Championship Series. Fans can enjoy 50-cent soft drinks and one dollar draft beers all night long.

The first Fireworks Friday will take place next week on June 7, presented by Patterson Kilgore and CBS 19. After the game with the Generals, the Pump Jacks will light up the night sky with a spectacular postgame fireworks show, set to a brand new soundtrack.
