Pennsylvania Rebellion News Release

Washington, PA, June 8, 2015-The Pennsylvania Rebellion fell by a score of 4-2 on Monday, June 8 to the visiting Chicago Bandits in a shortened 5 ?-inning contest. The game was shortened due to inclement weather.

Pennsylvania looked to be making a push for the lead in the bottom of the sixth when shortstop Maddie O'Brien and third baseman Cheyenne Cordes each hit singles and advanced on a Chicago wild pitch to place runners on second and third with one out. Both squads were sent to their respective dugouts due to the oncoming downpour, however, stalling the Rebellion offense.

Pennsylvania held the lead briefly in the bottom of the third. After an RBI single from Chicago's Danielle Zymkowitz, the Bandits took a 1-0 advantage in the second. The Rebellion responded with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to a sacrifice fly out by first baseman Alisa Goler and a run-scoring single from right fielder Alexa Peterson.

The Bandits took their second lead of the game in the top of the fourth when RT Cantillo scored on a Brenna Moss single. A Rebellion error followed by a wild pitch allowed Chicago to gain the 4-2 vantage.

With O'Brien and Cordes in scoring position for Pennsylvania, left fielder Samie Garcia worked a 1-0 count in the sixth inning before the umpires ordered all players off of the field. The game was pronounced final after a 43-minute rain delay.

The Rebellion and Bandits will return to CONSOL Energy Park for game two of their three-game series on Tuesday, June 9. Due to the shortened game tonight, fans are able to exchange their ticket for any remaining game of this home series against Chicago, with game two being held on Tuesday and game three on Wednesday, June 10. First pitch for both Tuesday and Wednesday's games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. For tickets, please stop by the box office at CONSOL Energy Park or call 724-250-9555.
