Lakeland Raiders News Release

The Raiders are proud to welcome a new addition the 2013 roster. The Raiders in 2012 had some struggles and consistency with the quarterback position and this is a position of high importance in any level of football, whether it be arena or your standard 11-man football team.

"This was a position we really wanted to improve at. We feel our 2012 season could have had a different outcome with a great quarterback. He was one of the best quarterbacks that played in my league (AIFA) and I am glad he has decided to join our organization. Bj brings leadership, experience and is ready to lead the Raiders in 2013," commented Michael Mink.

"I know what many of the players are going through because I went through it. It's not an easy road but with commitment and hard work, anything is possible," commented Bj.

Currently Bj dedicates his time training young athletes. His knowledge of the game and skills are great weapons for teaching. He has helped improve middle school athletes as well as high school athletes. He worked with Sean Culkin who is currently signed with the University of Missouri and also has other athletes he is currently helping. He also has been holding personal work out camps for players out of high school, playing semi-pro football and for players who want a chance to play football somewhere.

He played in AFL with the Tampa Bay Storm, Dallas Vigilantes, and the Iowa Barnstormers. His Arena Coach, John Gregory, suggested that he try to pursue The CFL and set up a workout. Gregory was a two time grey cup Champion with Saskatchewan as a head coach. Bj went and was immediately signed by Toronto.

He spent all of 2011 season with Toronto and scored a rushing touchdown to help Toronto win a big game against the Calgary Stampeaders. In 2012 during training camp, he was released. Shortly after his release he worked out with Miami Dolphins. His skills on the field are not like many that you would see. His arm strength is very impressive as well as his knowledge for the game and athletic ability. He is also not just a hard worker on the field, but one off the field. Bj has always been thankful for all his opportunities and has always made time for his fans.

"Bj is a very humble individual. He understands what hard work is from working his way up the ladder of professional football and earning a NFL workout in 2012. I have the confidence and believe that Bj is the guy to lead us to a Championship. With his skill set and dual threat ability as a quarterback, he will be a nightmare for opposing teams. He declined multiple offers from various teams to be a Lakeland Raider because he believes in everything we are doing to help the community and also to help players advance. He is the leader the Raiders have been looking for" commented General Manager Feddy Azofeifa.
