Rage Fights Eagles and for Roster Spots in Pre-Season Opener

Broomfield, Colo. - With roster spots at a premium, the Rocky Mountain Rage and Colorado Eagles exhausted their playoff rosters tonight in pre-season action. Defending President's Cup Champion Colorado Eagles took game one of a two-game pre-season series with the Rocky Mountain Rage, 4-2 at the Broomfield Event Center.
The Rage and Eagles play their final exhibition game tomorrow in Loveland. The Rocky Mountain Rage opens the 2007-08 regular season at home against the Tulsa Oilers October 26th. Single game tickets are now on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets and the Broomfield Event Center box office.
The Eagles opened first with a goal by Ryan Tobler just 1:49 in the period. Rage center Simon Watson answered back on a shot from the glove side of Eagles goalie Clayton Pool. Ed McGrane took the lead again for the Eagles at 10:54 going into intermission.
Player / assistant coach Brent Cullaton stood behind the bench for the Rage tonight serving as coach rather than player. In the second period, Rage newcomer Daymen Rycroft slapped in a shot off a long rebound by Pool to tie the game at two a piece. The Eagles then switched goaltenders putting Ian Keserich in net.
Colorado scored back-to-back goals in the third period when Tobler made a pass to Dave Iannazzo who tipped it in net at 3:14 for the eventual game-winning goal. Then Seth Leonard scored just over one minute later for the Eagles' first two-goal lead. Mike Lukajic added an empty net goal at 19:16 to cap off the scoring. Keserich stopped all 26 shots he faced. Rage goalie Scott Reid stopped 27 of 31 shots.
