Quincy Gems News Release
Games rescheduled
In regards to our suspended 7 inning game and postponed game form last night, June 9th. We will resume the suspended 7 inning game on the next schedule Danville date in Quincy which is June 30th for the completion of the suspended game from last night. That game will start at 5:35pm. The second game of that night will be the regular scheduled 9 inning game.
Rescheduling of the postponed game from last night will be Sunday July 14th. We play Danville on July 1st, but cannot play a double header due to Danville's double header on July 2 already scheduled. Three days of Double headers would put Danville in violation of the league rule that a team may not play more than 5 games in any three day period.
Kids Day at the Ballpark
Each year over 500 preschool kids enjoy a day at the ballpark with the Quincy Gems players as their host. An exciting day is planned with face painting, sidewalk chalk art, whiffle ball batting practice, pitch and catch with the Gems players an much more to entertain the kids for the day. The grand event for our future generation is sponsored by Bank of Quincy. A hotdog plate and a Pepsi makes for a great outfield picnic meal. The players come away from the day almost as excited as kids who spent the day with them! Kids Day at the Ballpark is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, June 11th. Daycares, and youth organizations from around the area have registered their kids, come see the fun tomorrow.
