Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA (September 14, 2010) - The Philadelphia Soul can officially begin to sign free-agent players when the Arena Football League's free-agency period begins Monday, September 20.

"This is an exciting time for all of us here in Philadelphia," said Soul head coach Mike Hohensee. "This is the time when we assemble the foundation of our team. We are looking at all available players - but will only offer an opportunity to the best."

Teams that played in the AFL in 2010 were given an exclusive window to re-sign their players from Sept. 5-19.

Players may not be contacted by other teams during this period.

Once that period ends, all players not under contract on Sept. 20 become free agents and can sign with any team.

Any player that did not play in 2010 is also eligible to be signed during the free-agency period.

"This is a unique opportunity for a fresh start for all of the AFL veterans out there who will now have a choice to play anywhere in the league," said Hohensee.

"The standard was set here in Philadelphia in 2008 with an ArenaBowl title, so we are looking for players that want to be a part of that tradition and have the ability, willingness and dedication to be champions."

Potential players can go to www.philadelphiasoul.com to send information the Soul football operations staff and open tryouts will be announced at a later date.
