Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA- Lancaster got to Quakes starter Jordon Towns in the second inning as they scored four times. Two runs came across on a two-run home run by Luis Exposito and two more on a two-out double by Yamaico Navarro to make the score 4-0.
Rancho had a chance to answer in the bottom of the second with runners on first and third, but Larry Infante grounded into an inning ending double play.
After Towns was taken out after 2.1 innings, Bryan Rembisz pitched three innings out of the pen allowing two runs on five hits and Trevor Bell threw 2.1 innings allowing just a single run making the score 7-0 going into the bottom of the seventh.
The Quakes finally got on the scoreboard in the 7th inning as they put together four straight hits to start the inning, including a two-run single by PJ Phillips to make the score 7-2. After Anthony Norman grounded out to advance the runners to second and third and Peter Bourjos struck out, Abel Nieves drew a walk to load the bases again. Ryan Mount followed with a two-run single, Efren Navarro singled to drive in a run and Hank Conger singled to score another, to bring the Quakes to within just a run at 7-6.
The Quakes had a chance to tie it in the ninth as Nieves led off the inning with double down the right field, but Mount lined into a double play for the first two outs of the inning. After Navarro walked, Conger lined out to first to end the game with the Quakes losing by a run.
Rancho will send Alexander Torres to the mound tomorrow against right hander Chris Jones of Lancaster to try and snap the six game losing streak. Game time is scheduled for 5:05.
