Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Quakes fell to Lancaster for the second straight night as the JetHawks slugged 15 hits against four Rancho pitchers.

The fireworks started early in Saturday night's game as Lancaster struck first after a lead off double by Jason Place, as Lars Anderson drove him home with an RBI single to grab a 1-0 lead.

The game would not stay that way for long as Peter Bourjos led off the home half of the first inning with a single to right field and came around on Mark Trumbo's two out, two-run home run to give Rancho a 2-1 edge.

Lancaster took the lead right back scoring two more in the second on an RBI triple by Aaron Reza. Reza would score on that same play on a bad throw to third by Quakes right fielder Drew Toussaint to take a 3-2 advantage.

The see-saw game continued as Anthony Norman led off the bottom of the second with a solo home run, his fourth of the year and second in as many nights, to tie the game 3-3.

It was all Lancaster from there as they put up two runs in third, one of which was unearned against Quakes starter Amalio Diaz. Diaz wound up going five innings allowing five runs, four earned, on nine hits. The JetHawks added two more in the top of the sixth on Jon Still's two out, two-run blast to go up 7-3.

In the eighth, Lancaster batted around and scored three unearned runs against reliever Sammy Leon to take a 10-3 advantage. JetHawks starter Chris Jones went six innings, allowing just three runs on five hits and struck out seven to earn his second win of the year.

The Quakes will try to salvage the series finale Sunday with Major Leaguer John Lackey on the mound against right-hander Jayme Russ of the JetHawks. Game time is scheduled for 2:05pm.
