Quad City's Brett Pilkington named Easton UHL Rookie of the Month

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Tuesday that Quad City Mallards forward Brett Pilkington has been named Easton UHL Rookie of the Month for March.

Pilkington completed the month with 17 points (6g, 11a), 18 penalty minutes and a plus-7 rating in 16 games played. He had four multiple-point games during the month, including a two goal, one assist performance against the Fort Wayne Komets on Mar. 2. He started one of his two three-game point streaks with three assists against the Port Huron Flags on Mar. 9. In addition, he played well on the Mallards' special teams recording one power play goal and four power play assists. The 23-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta, is tied for second place on his team and 10th in the league in scoring with 69 points (27g, 42a) this season. He leads all rookies with his 27 goals and 69 points, and he ranks second among rookies in assists.

Other players nominated for the Easton UHL Rookie of the Month include: Bloomington forward Mike Zbriger, Chicago forward Todd Grant, Elmira left wing Dan Veenema, Flint forward Jordan Fox, Fort Wayne center Martin Gascon, Kalamazoo goaltender Ryan Nie, Muskegon defenseman Joe Pomaranski, Port Huron Flags center Ryan Markham and Rockford left wing Kaleb Betts.

The Easton UHL Rookie of the Month recognizes the performance of players who have played in 60 or fewer professional games and goaltenders who have played 3,600 or fewer professional minutes prior to this season.
