To recap summer 2010 thus far: Despite opening night being two months away, the Mallards have been very active at local events. Mascot Mo Mallard has made appearances at the Mississippi Valley Fair, QCTributefest, Bettendorf YMCA=CA1/4s Summer Adventure Camp, Davenport Parks and Recreation Back to School Bash, Moline Centre Main Street=CA1/4s Strut Your Mutt Dog Show, the grand opening of River=CA1/4s Edge indoor sports facility in Davenport, Quad City Hockey Association=CA1/4s Registration Day, and the Quad Cities Paddlesports Festival and Guinness World Record Floatzilla event.
Team President Chris Presson has been visible in the community as well, speaking to local organizations and making radio appearances. In August he spoke to the Moline and Silvis Optimist Clubs and spoke on 93.9 WYEC=CA1/4s Mid-Morning in the Cities about the upcoming season.
The Mallards have actively been making donations to local businesses and charitable organizations this summer. Recipients include: QC Chamber of Commerce, Moline Centre Main Street, Life=CA1/4s Little Miracles Preschool, Rock Island Public Library, QC Ride for the Cure, Silvis Moonlight Parade, The Davenport Central Blue Devil Athletic Foundation Auction and Dance, First Open Bible Church, the Mattix Berg Benefit, the Theresa Gibbs Memorial Benefit, Midwest Championship Wrestling, Quad Cities Marathon, and the Orion Fall Festival.
This week=CA1/4s upcoming events: Saturday, August 28 - Princeton Days- Princeton, Iowa Mo will be making an appearance at Princeton Days annual summer festival in Princeton, Iowa. This year=CA1/4s theme is the Duck Days of Summer, so Mo knew he couldn=CA1/4t miss out. Activities take place all weekend long, and Mo will take part in the children=CA1/4s events on Saturday from 12:30-2:30pm.
Looking forward: As proud new members of the "AA" Central Hockey League, the Mallards look to open their season October 16, 2010 against the Odessa Jackalopes. The game starts at 7:05pm at the i wireless Center in Moline.
