QMJHL Central Scouting cancels Salem Showcase
Published on March 16, 2006 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
BOUCHERVILLE, Thursday, March 16, 2006 (QMJHL) - The second "US Showcase", which was slated to be held next April 25th and 26th in Salem New Hampshire, has been cancelled by QMJHL Central Scouting (CSR) due to scheduling concerns. The "Yankee Festival", which was slated to be held in May with the purpose of evaluation American based teams of under-15, 16 and 17 year olds, has been advanced and now coincides with the CSR's Showcase.
Pierre Leduc, the Director of the CSR, was disappointed: "It's a very unfortunate situation, since this event enables our scouting team as well as those of the League's franchises to once more evaluate approximately forty players from the New England region. Also, it's even more disappointing for the players, who often use this event to showcase their skills."
