East Texas PumpJacks News Release

Weatherford native and two-time high school All-American Dustin Williams will make his way to East Texas this summer, where he will be joined by Saint Mary's teammates Connor Hornsby and Trevor Ellison.

The East Texas Pump Jacks roster continues to take shape, with the addition of a former high school All-American who is making waves as a freshman in the Big 12. The new slugger is joined by a pair of players from the Jacks newfound Saint Mary's College pipeline, one of which carries a Hall-of-Fame bloodline.

The Pump Jacks announced Wednesday the team has signed first baseman Dustin Williams, middle infielder Connor Hornsby and catcher Trevor Ellison. Williams comes to the Jacks from Oklahoma State University, Hornsby and Ellison from Saint Mary's College of California.

Williams was a two-time Louisville Slugger All-American at Weatherford High School. He batted a jaw-dropping .576 with a .870 slugging percentage during his senior campaign. His junior year was no less impressive; Williams batted .375 with an .807 slugging percentage with eight home runs. In total Williams batted an average of .444 over his high school career with 28 doubles and 12 home runs.

Williams made an immediate impact as a freshman this year at Oklahoma State. Not only does he lead Cowboys true freshman in nearly every major offensive category, but also he is ranked fourth in the Big 12 in triples.

This past weekend Williams ate up Kansas State, going a combined 3-for-7 with two home runs and a double, scoring 4 runs with 5 RBI in just two games.

Now in his sophomore campaign, Hornsby contributed right away as a freshman at Saint Mary's. He has appeared in 72 games in two seasons, 52 of them starts. He has batted a combined .230 and scored 26 runs thus far in his collegiate career.

Hornsby played 33 games last summer for the River Rats, helping them to the Florida Collegiate Baseball League playoffs.

Hornsby prepped at Acalanes High School in Walnut Creek, Calif., where he was named an all-league selection three years in a row and was awarded a gold glove in 2012. He helped lead the Dons to back-to-back North Coast Section championships as a junior and senior.

Long time baseball fans will recognize the Hornsby name, and for good reason. His great-great uncle, Rogers Hornsby, holds the modern major league record by batting .424 in 1924; his career average of .358 is second only to Ty Cobb in big league history.

Ellison completes the trio of Gaels' making their way to East Texas. Part of the Saint Mary's three-man catching rotation, he has appeared in 29 games and started 16 of them starts, accruing 10 hits in 54 at-bats.

A three-year member of the program, Ellison has spent the last two summers honing his craft in summer collegiate leagues. Last summer, he appeared in 24 games for the Far West League's Neptune Beach Pearl. Following his freshman season, the Fresno native played for his hometown Cardinals in the Pacific West League.

Hornsby and Ellison join Gaels' teammate Anthony Gonsolin on the Pump Jacks this summer. Former Jacks head coach Nate Leaser is a member of the Gaels' coaching staff, opening the door for all three to come to East Texas.
