Kitsap Pumas News Release
Everett, Wash. - It took everything they had - and provided a showcase for the resolve and talent Kitsap Puma pro indoor head coach Dustyn Brim has assembled - as the Pumas overcame a one-goal deficit with only a minute to play to pull a hard-earned 4-3 victory from the jaws of defeat over the Snohomish Skyhawks in PASL indoor soccer action tonight.
Friesen, a standout for the club's outdoor side the past two seasons, put his team on his back and slotted home a wicked rifle shot to tie the match at 3-3 with a minute to play.
Then it was Friesen again as his last-gasp blast hit the corner net as the final whistle blew.
The win is Kitsap's fourth-straight and improved the team's overall mark to 4-1. The only loss Kitsap has sustained so far was in the season opener versus defending league champion Tacoma - a narrow 8-6 defeat - and the first-ever indoor match ever played by the club.
Kitsap played last night in Bremerton, taking a brutally hard-fought win over the seasoned and highly skilled California Cougars, 11-7. The boys today had to hit the road this afternoon for tonight's match against Snohomish.
"Coming off back-to back matches, our guys were mentally tired," said Brim. "Physically we were ok. But it's good to finish strong like this - especially being down a a goal with a minute left. We took this game by scruff of neck and won it with sheer will."
Other Pumas on the scoresheet were Taylor Hyde and the ever-emerging Kellen Wantulok, who registered two tallies in last night's win.
The Pumas now take a well-deserved holiday break until early January when league play resumes.
Tickets are always on sale via brownpapertickets.com, at the Olympic Soccer and Sports Center in Bremerton, Wash. or at Puma headquarters.
