Pulaski Mariners News Release
PULASKI, VA - As their season steadily approaches, the Pulaski Mariners are excited to announce their coaching staff for the 2012 season. The staff will feature familiar faces for the upcoming season, as the club welcomes back manager Jose Moreno for his second stint in the same position. Also on the staff will be pitching coach Nasusel Cabrera and hitting coach Rafael Santo Domingo, both of whom return to their respective positions.
Pulaski welcomes back Jose Moreno as their new skipper for a second stint with the team. Moreno, in his twelfth season in the Mariners organization, managed the club back in 2009. He managed the Everett AquaSox in 2008 and led the Peoria Mariners to an Arizona League Championship with a 37-19 record in 2007. Moreno signed as a free agent in 1985 and played in the Majors for the Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Indians.
Nasusel Cabrera will begin his sixth season in the Mariners organization, his fourth as pitching coach for Pulask. Before joining the organization, he spent 18 years as a pitching coach in the Dominican Republic. Cabrera spent the 1986-88 seasons pitching in the Oakland Athletics minor league organization.
Rafael Santo Domingo enters his eighth season with the Mariners organization, his fourth in Pulaski as the club's hitting coach. Back in 2008, Santo Domingo was a coach for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He currently works as a scout in the Puerto Rico during the winter months. Santo Domingo began his professional career with the Cincinnati Reds in 1974 and was named an all-star shortstop of the Eastern League in 1977. He went on to debut in the Majors in 1979 with the Reds.
