Providence's Christina Putigna Signs with Pride

The Boston Pride have added another talented rookie to their lineup for next season with the signing of forward Christina Putigna, who recently completed an outstanding collegiate career.
In 135 games at Providence, Putigna was 46-64-110. As a senior, the Ontario native posted career highs in goals (15) and points (30), and ranked second on the team in both categories. She also served as an assistant captain of the Friars and was named to the Hockey East All-Tournament Team.
"I'm looking forward to continuing to shape my game and learn from those around me with the Boston Pride in my first season as a pro," said Putigna. "It's exciting and humbling to have this opportunity to sign with the Pride. It means a lot to me to get the chance to remain in New England and pursue my hockey career. I have seen how much the NWHL has impacted the future of women's hockey and I really wanted to be a part of the league and the development of girls' and women's hockey in the coming years.
"I also want to take this moment to thank my family, my coaches and my teammates at Providence," said Putigna. "They have all been so supportive throughout this entire process."
Putigna will receive $5,500, along with a cut of the 50 percent of all revenue from league-level sponsorship and media deals the players are getting this season. Players also receive 15 percent of the revenue from apparel sold with their names on them.
Prior to her collegiate career, she played varsity hockey at Blessed Trinity Catholic School in addition to playing for the Stoney Creek Sabres. She also captained the Oakville Hornets for a season.
"Christina will be a favorite of her teammates and Pride fans because of her skill and tenacity," said Pride head coach Paul Mara. "I'm confident her game will continue to develop as a pro in Boston."
