Amarillo Venom News Release

Amarillo, TX 5/04/11 - The Amarillo Venom is having a "Proud to be an American-Salute to Our Troops" night for their game against the Bricktown Brawlers Saturday May, 14th. Active duty military personnel, reserve and veterans will be admitted to the game free of charge with their military Ids.

"We want to do something to show our support for the men and women who protect the freedoms we enjoy everyday," said Joe Morgado, the Venom's General Manager. "We hope this game brings to the forefront the sacrifice these men and women make on a daily basis and reminds people that the reason we are able to enjoy everyday activities such as football is because of the bravery and courage of our military that protects said freedoms."

The Venom's "Proud to be an American-Salute to Our Troops" night will take place after the eradication of America's most wanted terrorist Osama bin Laden, who was killed in Pakistan during a raid by United States Navy Seals.

"After the events that transpired earlier this week, the patriotism and unity of Americans is greater than it has been in a long time," said Morgado. "It's hard to describe the patriotism that our organization is feeling and this night is a way for us as well as our fans to express that patriotism.

The Amarillo Venom is partnering with America Supports You Texas, a proactive military support group that supports men and women in uniform and their families. The Venom will wear special red, white and blue jerseys for their game against the Bricktown Brawlers that will be auctioned off in a silent auction during the game. Proceeds from the auction, which will feature the unique game-worn Venom jerseys as well as other autographed Venom merchandise, will go to the America Supports You Texas organization and will help fund their Wounded Warrior Fund, Armed Forces Day Banquet, and the Texas Panhandle Honor Flight.

"It's a chance for our fans to support a good cause and go home with some rare patriotic memorabilia," said Morgado.

Halftime of the Venom's game against the Brawlers will feature a special military enlistment ceremony as well as a special concert performance by the Tascosa High School Freedom Singers.

"May is military appreciation month," said Jack Barnes, President of America Supports You Texas. "Lets all pause and say thanks to the men and women that serve our country and we can do that right here at the Civic Center during an Amarillo Venom football game."

Besides free tickets to all current and former military personnel with an ID, the Venom is offering a special discounted ticket to all of their fans on "Proud to be an American-Salute to Our Troops" night. All nonmilitary fans will be able to purchase tickets for just $14 anywhere in the Amarillo Civic Center.

Fans needing tickets can stop by the Venom's office, located at 901 S. Buchanan in downtown Amarillo, or call (806)350-7277. Fans can also purchase tickets online at www.panhandletickets.com, by stopping by any United Supermarkets location, or the day of the game at the Amarillo Civic Center box office.
