Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Ford Proctor smacked a couple of home runs and the Biscuits (55-47) took down the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (50-48), 6-1, in Tuesday night's series opener at Riverwalk Stadium. With the Birmingham Barons-Chattanooga Lookouts game being postponed due to rain, the Biscuits are once again alone in second place in the Double-A South with 17 games to play in the regular season.

Jack Labosky made his eighth start of the season for the Biscuits, and the reliever-turned-starter retired three in a row, including two on strikeouts, after walking lead-off man Kameron Misner in a scoreless top of the first inning.

Kyle Nicolas (3-1) started on the other side for Pensacola, and the right-hander struck out the first two batters of the game in Greg Jones and Xavier Edwards before allowing a two-out double to Jonathan Aranda. Ruben Cardenas walked in the next at-bat, and then Proctor launched a three-run home run to right to put the Biscuits up 3-0 early.

Chris Chinea pulled a run back for the Wahoos in the top of the second with a solo home run to right off Labosky, which made it a 3-1 game. Labosky still struck out the side in the second, and had five strikeouts through the first two innings, six through the first three, and a season-high nine through four. Nicolas worked a one-two-three bottom of the third, ringing up his fourth batter.

The Biscuits added another run off Nicolas in the bottom of the fourth courtesy of an RBI-double down the left field line by Niko Hulsizer that increased the Montgomery lead back to three at 4-1. Justin Sterner (1-1) came on for Labosky and worked a scoreless top of the fifth, and a scoreless top of the sixth.

Joel Peguero entered for Sterner in the seventh and struck out a pair in a clean frame, and then two more in a scoreless eighth. Aranda delivered a sac fly in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 5-1 contest. Proctor then homered again-this time a solo shot off the top of batter's eye in straightaway center-to make it 6-1. Ivan Pelaez wrapped things up in the ninth with a scoreless inning.

The Biscuits will go for their third-straight win on Military Wednesday presented by WOW! when Jayden Murray (1-2) faces off against Max Meyer (6-1) at 6:35 PM CT.

The rest of the series will include Board Game Night with a T-Shirt Giveaway on Thursday, September 2; HBCU Night on Friday, September 3; Take Me Out to the Ballgame Night with MAX Fireworks on Saturday, September 4; and Lil' Crumbs Kids Club presented by Go Fish Alabama & Bark in the Park on Sunday, September 5.
