
Privateers Tie Series with Demonz to Force Deciding Game Friday at Hara

(Dayton, Ohio) The Watertown Privateers tied the semi-final series with the Dayton Demonz at one game apiece with their 8-6 victory at Hara Arena. Tomorrow night both teams will meet in the third and deciding game, the winner gets to play for the Commissioner's Cup against the Danbury Whalers.
The Demonz outshot the Privateers in the contest 37 to 32; however Watertown turned it on in the 3rd period outshooting the Demonz 14-8. With Dayton leading 6-4 mid-way through the 3rd period, the Privateers would storm back scoring 4 unanswered goals in the game's final 10 minutes. Brent Clarke of the Privateers had a hat trick on the evening, while Dane Erickson was credited with the game winner.
Dayton and Watertown went with both goaltenders that started the first game of their series the other night. Watertown had Nick Niebert in net, and Dayton went with Jeff Rose.
The first period would end in a 1-1 tie. In a relatively even played period. Dayton would out shoot Watertown 12-8 in the first period. Dayton would get on the board first as Dustin Skinner gave the Demonz a 1-0 lead.
The Privateers tied the game up a few minutes later, at the half-way point of the first session, with Brent Clarke scoring making it 1-1.
The second period saw the Privateers take a 2-1 lead 58 seconds into the period on Britt Ouellette goal. Seconds' later Kris McCarthy tally made it 3-1. Dayton's Len Pelletier cut the score to 3-2 again seconds off the ensuring face-off. Dayton would add two more goals making it 4-3 going into the final period. Brian Marks would tie the game for the Demonz at 3-3 on the power play. And Wehebe Darge's go ahead goal for Dayton made it 4-3 Demonz heading into the final intermission.
August Aiken's goal 18 seconds into the final frame seemed to give the Demonz a cushion with his goal, and the Demonz leading 5-3. Normally, this is when Demonz usually put teams away. But not this evening, not tonight!
Brent Clarke would again have the Privateers cut into the Dayton lead about 5 minutes later, cutting the score to 5-4. Dayton's Jared Hicks goal a little of a minute later gave the Demon a two goal lead at 6-4. That was it for the Demonz this evening. The Privateers scored 4 unanswered goals to take the win. Bringing the series down to winner takes all tomorrow night. Goal scorers for the Privateers were Clarke, Matt Graham, Dane Erickson, and Branden Parkhouse's (empty netter).
