
Pride trades four players and signs two

(NASHUA, NH, March 15, 2007) The Nashua Pride announced today that the club has traded starting pitcher Dan Reichert to the Atlantic City Surf of the Can-Am League for cash, the 2nd pick in the Can-Am League Draft and future considerations. Atlantic City will then trade Reichert to the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American-Association. In an additional move, starter, Josh Stevens, and reliever, Derrick DePriest, were both traded to the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League for future considerations. Also traded, was infielder, Elliot Ayala, who was sent to the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League for future considerations. To close out the Pride's transactions, Nashua also signed outfielder, Richard Giannotti and relief pitcher Angelo Burrows.
Reichert, a former Major League pitcher, 30, went 8-5, with a 3.86 ERA, 93 SO and 121.1 IP in 20 games for Nashua. The Monterey, CA native will now be able to pitch in front of his family in Lincoln, NE when he plays for the Saltdogs this upcoming season.
Stevens, 27, finished 5-3 with a 4.46 ERA, 55 SO and 70.2 IP in 13 games pitched for the Pride this past season. The righthander was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 35th round of the 1997 draft. In his best season as a professional in 2003, the Mira Loma, CA resident went 10-9, with a 3.85 ERA in 154.1 IP for the Red Sox AA affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs.
DePriest, 30, was the Pride's closer in 2006 and ended up 1-2, 4.50 ERA with 14 saves, 37 SO and 28 IP in 24 games. The righty was the 17th round selection of the Montreal Expos in the 2000 draft.
Ayala, 28, hit .269 with 18 RBI, 11 2B, 9 SB and 167 AB in 56 games for the Pride last year. The Puerto Rican native was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 23rd round of the 1998 draft.
In 2006, Giannotti, 23, played for both the Reno Silver Sox of the Golden League and the Swing of the Quad Cities, single A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. In his combined total for both squads, the Ft. Lauderdale native hit .268 with 17 RBI and 6 SB and 112 AB in 30 games. He was selected by Angels in 38th round of 2004 draft; signed July 9, 2004.
The rightanded Burrows, 26, went 3-2 for with a 4.09 ERA, 45 SO and 44 IP in 23 games for the Road Warriors of the Atlantic League. The Freeport, Bahamas native was selected by the Atlanta Braves in ninth round of 1999 draft; signed July 5, 1999.
