Pride Drop Second Straight Shut-Out in 3-0 Loss

Kissimmee, FL - August 3, 2016 - The USSSA Pride dropped their second game in a row as they lost their series opener to the Chicago Bandits. Starting Pride pitcher Chelsea Thomas got the loss in the 3-0 decision while the Bandits starter Lacey Waldrop picked up the win.
The Bandits put a runner on the bases in every inning, giving them plenty of opportunities to score runs. Errors were costly for the Pride in this contest. The first run of the game was scored in the third when Jill Barrett - who reached base on a throwing error by third baseman Kelsey Stewart - scored on a deep single to left field from Brittany Cervantes. The next two runs came in thanks to a single from red-hot Taylor Edwards to score Emily Carosone and Megan Blank. Both fourth-inning runs were unearned.
The Pride put up five hits to the Bandits' eight tonight. Veteran Kelly Kretschman put up two while rookies Haylie McCleney, Sierra Romero and Stewart each contributed one. Romero hit a leadoff double to left-center field in the fifth inning to put herself in scoring position and give her team a chance to score. She injured herself on the slide into second base, was removed from the game and was replaced by Courtney Ceo. Romero did not reenter the contest.
In 3.2 innings pitched, Thomas gave up three runs on three hits while striking out two and walking none. Kelsey Nunley finished the game after entering in the fourth. She gave up no runs on three hits, struck out four and walked one.
The Pride will continue their series against the Bandits tomorrow. First pitch is set for 8:00 PM (ET) at the Ballpark at Rosemont.
