Preview: Toros Begin Three-Game Road Trip: First Stop, Austin

EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (8-6-4, 28 pts.) heads to Austin Bold FC (6-5-6; 24 pts.) to begin a three-game road trip. Matchup is set for Tuesday, August 17 at 8 p.m. CST.

The last time RGV FC faced the Bold the matchup ended in a final 1-1 draw on July 7. The Toros have yet to pick up a win at Bold Stadium as the overall away record stands at 0-2-1.

RGV FC: The Toros conceded the most goals this season after a tough 2-5 loss to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Some positives from the clash, Juan Carlos Azocar scored his sixth goal of the 2021 campaign. Christian Sorto tallied two assists for the night and created five chances. As a team, RGV FC totaled 13 created chances. Colin Miller has filled in for Tyler Deric and was able to come out big with the first penalty kick save of the season, totaling three individually.

ATX: The Bold ended in a 0-0 draw to Miami FC on Saturday, Aug. 14. Three members of the squad lead with two goals scored each - Juan Torres, Collin Fernandez and Fabien Garcia. Owayne Omar Gordon and Alasanne Ates Diouf both have tallied two assists each. Gordon has been dangerous on the attack with 21 shots while Xavier Baez has been able to be creative in the midfield with 26 created chances. Elliot Panicco continues to be solid at goal with 30 total saves and leadS the USL Championship with seven clean sheets.
