
Preview: FC Kansas City Visits the Boston Breakers for Second Time this Season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 8, 2015) - Less than a week after shutting out the Washington Spirit at home, FC Kansas City (4-5-2, 14 points) hits the road one more time to visit the Boston Breakers for the second time this season tomorrow night at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium. The match will be streamed live on YouTube and in-game updates can be followed via Twitter at @BluesGameday.
This will be the second out of three regular season meetings between the Breakers and the Blues. Last Saturday May 30, Kansas City fell 1-0 at Harvard University with former FCKC forward Kristie Mewis scoring the lone goal in the 51st minute. Overall, FC Kansas City and Boston have squared off a total of seven times in league history. The Blues lead the All-time series 5-2-0.
Coach Tum Durkin's team stands eighth in the league standings with an overall record of 3-5-2 and 11 points. The Breakers are coming from a tough 2-0 home loss against the Western New York Flash. On the other hand, Kansas City ended a five-game winless streak last Friday when Yael Averbuch, Shea Groom and Liz Bogus each scored a goal in the 3-0 victory over the Spirit.
Both teams will be without key players. Boston's starting goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher along with FC Kansas City's Amy Rodriguez, Becky Sauerbrunn, Heather O'Reilly and Lauren Holiday will not be available for selection after having won the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup on Sunday. They are expected to return to their clubs next week.
Next up, FC Kansas City will host the on Wednesday, July 15 at Swope Soccer Village in game one of back-to-back matches against the Dash.
