Preview: FC Kansas City and Western New York Face off for Second Time in Seven Days

KANSAS CITY, Mo (May 13, 2015) - FC Kansas City will host the Western New York Flash in the second of back-to-back matches on Thursday at Swope Soccer Village. This will be the team's first of two consecutive home games. The regular season contest will be streamed live on YouTube and can be followed on Twitter @BluesGameday.

In support of The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation, FC Kansas City will be wearing special edition pink jerseys, which will be auctioned off during the match. The silent auction will last from 6:00 p.m. (when gates open) until the 75th minute. Winners will be announced after the final whistle and all proceeds will be donated to T.A.K.E.

Last Friday, the Blues earned their first ever victory at Sahlen's Stadium after shutting out the Flash 1-0 with midfielder Liz Bogus scoring the lone tally in 73rd minute assisted by Mandy Laddish. In addition, with a season-high seven saves, goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart added one more clean sheet to her name. So far, she has not allowed a goal in 295 minutes.

The Flash became the first team to outshoot FC Kansas City this season, registering eight shots on goal to the Blues' five. However, Western New York was unable to find a way past Barnhart and fell for the third time in four games to start the season.

Coach Aaran Lines' team has allowed the opening goal in all four matches they have played this year and are the only team in the league yet to score first in a game. The Flash are also yet to lead in the first half of a game this season.

FC Kansas City and Western New York have squared off a total of six times. Each team has won two games with two draws. The last time the Flash visited Kansas City, the Blues came up on top with a 1-0 victory on June 4, 2014 at Durwood Stadium.

A win for Kansas City would secure the top of the NWSL standings for at least 24 hours depending on Chicago's result on Friday.
