Preseason Opens March 14

The Harrisburg City Islanders will play seven preseason matches against several top Division I college teams, as well as one USL PRO opponent, in preparation for the 2011 season.
The City Islanders will get their preseason ball rolling on Monday, March 14th when training camp officially opens at In The Net Sports Complex (Palmyra, PA).
Scrimmage play begins on Wednesday, March 16th, when the team takes on the Saint Francis University Red Flash at Lower Dauphin Middle School (Hummelstown, PA) at 7:30 p.m.
The club will then face the Wildcats of Villanova University on Thursday, March 24th (7:00 p.m. at Lower Dauphin Middle School) before hosting Robert Morris University at Lower Dauphin Middle School on Saturday, March 26th (7:00 p.m.).
The team will continue their preseason match schedule with contests at Temple University on Ambler Field (Wednesday, March 30th, 4:00 p.m.) and at Lower Dauphin Middle School against Towson University (Saturday, April 2nd, 7:00 p.m.) before squaring off with the Penn State Nittany Lions at Penn State's Jeffrey Field (Wednesday, April 6th, 4:00 p.m.).
The City Islanders will conclude their preseason match schedule when they take on the Rochester Rhinos in a battle between two USL PRO teams.
The final preseason match will be played at Classics Park in Lancaster on Saturday, April 9th (4:00 p.m.).
Admission is free at every City Islanders preseason match.
The location and start time for the match against Villanova will be announced in the near future.
"We feel we have a very strong preseason schedule with several quality opponents," City Islanders head coach Bill Becher said.
"Playing against these talented college squads will give some of our trialists the opportunity to show what they can do, and the final two scrimmages against Penn State and Rochester will provide us with the perfect tune-up before the regular season starts."
The City Islanders will be up against a wealth of local high school talent during their preseason, including Robert Morris' Niko Corado (Cumberland Valley) and Matt Sheibley (Northern); Temple's Sam Speaker (Cumberland Valley); and Penn State's Daniel Parr (Lower Dauphin).

The Harrisburg City Islanders will open the regular season at the Skyline Sports Complex against the in-state rival Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday, April 16th (7:00 p.m.) before traveling west for a rematch of the opener on Saturday, April 23rd (7:00 p.m.).
