Premier Basketball League Announces Upcoming 2010-11 Entry Draft

(Oct. 27, 2010 - Chicago) - The Premier Basketball League, on the cusp of beginning its fourth professional season, announces today that the PBL 2010-11 Entry Draft will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. Central Time (9:00 p.m. Eastern) from U.S. Cellular Field, home of the 2005 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox. The event will be broadcast over the Internet on both the PBL's website, http://www.thepbl.com, and through @sportstv, at http://www.atsportstv.com.
The draft will consist of two rounds. In each round, the PBL's two new teams - the Dayton Air Strikers and the Kentucky Bluegrass Stallions - will pick first. For the first round, the remaining six teams - Quebec Kebs, Saint John Mill Rats, Vermont Frost Heaves, Halifax Rainmen, Rochester RazorSharks and the 2010 PBL Champion Lawton-Fort-Sill Cavalry, will then pick in order of their 2009-10 won-loss record. That order will be reversed for the second round.
Because the Rochester RazorSharks and Quebec Kebs each traded players for draft picks during the 2009-10 season, those teams will each receive an additional draft pick, which will be the final pick of each round.
"This is a chance for the Premier Basketball League to shine," said Dr. Sev Hrywnak, Chairman of the Board. "In the past, many of the players chosen in the entry draft have later starred for their teams during the regular season and playoffs. Last year's PBL Rookie of the Year, Eric Gilchrese, was a first-round pick in the 2009-10 Entry Draft; and other PBL draft picks such as Vidal Massiah, Jean-Philippe Morin, and Haakim Johnson have all proven themselves on the court."
