Premier Basketball League Announces January 2012 PBL Awards

(Chicago, IL - 2/1/12) - After the completion of the first month of basketball action going into the Premier Basketball League's fifth season, the league is pleased to recognize the following awards:

The PBL's Player of the Month for January 2012 - Desmond Holloway, Guard, Sauk Valley Predators

In his first season with the PBL, guard Desmond Holloway of the Central Division's Sauk Valley Predators proved to be January 2012's Player of the Month. Holloway, a 6'4 guard from Coastal Carolina, is leading the league in scoring with an average of 27.2 points per game as well as leading the league in steals with an average of 2.33 steals per game. Holloway also ranks in seventh place with an average of 9.00 rebounds per game and 1.00 blocks per game.

Known as "Dezy Dez," Holloway has volunteered for local kids' camps, award assemblies and reading programs throughout the Sterling, IL area. In his spare time Desmond enjoys attending local high school and junior high school boys' and girls' basketball games. Desmond recently turned down an offer to play basketball overseas. "Dezy Dez means so much to the Sauk Valley Predators and demonstrates great leadership on and off the court. We are so proud of him for this amazing accomplishment," commented Brad Grenoble, the team's owner and GM.

The PBL's Coach of the Month for January 2012 - A.J. Guyton, Head Coach, Central Illinois Drive

After joining the Central Illinois Drive in his first Head Coaching Position, A.J. Guyton has achieved the PBL's Coach of the Month award for January 2012. Coach Guyton remains undefeated as his Central Illinois Drive coasted through their first month of PBL Basketball with a perfect 6-0 record. In addition, the Central Illinois Drive's ranks second in point differential against their opponents with an average scoring margin of 16.17 points per game. Coach Guyton's defensive strategy also played a huge part for the team's success in January as they ranked first in keeping their opponents scoring down with an average of 91.33 points per game.

"I am honored and thrilled that AJ has been named the PBL's Coach of the Month for January 2012. I think it represents a lot more than just AJ and AJ would be the first one to second that notion. He is a very modest and humble individual. AJ's ability is certainly reflected in our team winning and shines on our entire organization. We had nothing but confidence in AJ when we provided him the opportunity and chance to be the Coach for the Drive," stated James "Jim Bob" Morris, Owner of the Central Illinois Drive.

The PBL's Team of the Month for January 2012 - Sauk Valley Predators, led by Owners Brad & Leah Grenoble

With an average attendance of approximately 2,000 fans at each of their home games for the month of January, multiple team owners praising their overall operation for a home game, and a second place record at 4-2 in the PBL's Central Division, the Sauk Valley Predators have been named the PBL's Team of the Month for January 2012. The Predators have made a huge impact in their hometown of Sterling, IL since joining the PBL in July 2011 in preparing for their first season of Minor League Professional Basketball. In a short period of time, the Predators have put together an excellent organization comprised of quality basketball, community involvement and outreach, philanthropy and great leadership from their owners Brad and Leah Grenoble.

"Brad and I would like to thank all of our sponsors, staff, fans, media and the PBL for supporting the Predators team. We work hard to follow the standards that the league has set forth and it is an honor to receive such recognition," stated Leah Grenoble, Owner and Director of Operations.

"Having witnessed a Predators home game myself last week it was amazing to see the production of their event from start to finish. In addition to quality basketball, the Predators staff provided family, friendly and fun atmosphere keeping their fans engaged and excited when basketball was not being played, during time outs and halftime. They have a great deal of support from their sponsors and even made a donation to a local non-profit organization at the end of the game. I would like to congratulate Brad, Leah and the entire Predators staff for doing such a great job." Commented Brij Desai, PBL President & CEO.

The Predators lead the league in scoring with an average of 124.33 points per game against their opponents. They also lead the league in point differential with an average scoring margin of 17.5 points per game.
