Preds Release Linebacker Stevie Baggs

March 7, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Orlando Predators News Release

Orlando, FL- The Orlando Predators released Mack linebacker Stevie Baggs, Jr. on Friday. Baggs played his only game with the Preds last Saturday against the Philadelphia Soul and recorded 1.5 tackles in the contest.

Baggs' replacement on the roster will be Reggie Cooley who played with the Arkansas Twisters of the af2 for seven seasons before joining the Preds in training camp. Cooley is a graduate from Arkansas State University and will bring much needed experience to a roster that features nine rookies.

"We released Stevie Baggs [Friday] because of the way Reggie Cooley has played," Jay Gruden said. "Cooley brings a lot of experience. He has played a number of years in af2, he knows the game and how we like to rush. He is a good special teams player and will give us a little more push at the Mack position, so we chose to go that route."

Baggs is a local product out of Lake Brantley High School and graduated from Bethune-Cookman University.

The Predators play the New Orleans VooDoo on Sunday at 3 p.m. inside the New Orleans Arena. The game can be heard on 540 AM WFLA in Orlando with Tom Morgan and Denise Cullen on the call.
