Orlando Predators News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 5, 2003) -- Orlando Predators fans in Central Florida area can enjoy a double dose of Arena Football League action this weekend thanks to the AFL schedule makers and WESH.

Action starts on Sunday (March 9), when NBC broadcasts the Los Angeles Avengers – New York Dragons game to the Central Florida region at 12 Noon, E.S.T. The game will be seen locally on WESH Channel 2.

Los Angeles is off to a 3-2 start and currently tied for first place in the Western Division. The Avengers are a future Predators opponent and will visit the TD Waterhouse Centre on March 30. New York was defeated at home by the Orlando Predators last week, 72-56. The game is NBC's primary game for the week and will feature its lead broadcast team of Tom Hammond and Pat Haden.

"I know our players are excited about watching the New York/Los Angeles game," Predators Head Coach Fran Papasedero said. "In addition to featuring one of our future opponents, it is a match-up of two of the better offenses in the Arena Football League. It should be a real shootout."

The double dose of Arena action continues on Monday night (March 10), when the 5-0 Orlando Predators host the 3-2 Indiana Firebirds at the TD Waterhouse Centre. The Predators are off to their best start since 2000, when they jumped out to a 7-0 beginning and capped the season with an ArenaBowl championship. Indiana, featuring the offensive exploits of "Touchdown" Eddie Brown will attempt to stop the Predators winning streak and improve their second place standing in the AFL Central Division.

"This is a critically important game for us against a quality opponent," Papasedero added. "We are entering an extremely difficult portion of our schedule with league powers and division rivals Tampa Bay and Georgia coming up right after the Indiana game. It's important that we protect our home turf."

Game time is 7:30 p.m. Tickets, priced from $7.50 - $40, are available by calling the Predators Ticket Office at 407-44-PREDS (77337), visiting the TD Waterhouse Box Office or calling TICKETMASTER 407-839-3900.
