Orlando Predators DB Montell Garner with the St. Louis Rams

ORLANDO - Orlando Predators rookie defensive back Montell Garner has signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the franchise announced today. Garner becomes the seventh member of the Predators to sign with an NFL team in the past year.
"We knew Montell was an outstanding talent when we brought him aboard, so it comes as no surprise to see him earn an opportunity in the NFL," said Head Coach Rob Keefe. "As an organization, we strive to help players reach their goals and play football at the highest level. We wish Montell the best as he pursues his dreams with the Pittsburgh Steelers."
Garner joins OL Erle Ladson (Cleveland Browns), DE Earl Okine (Indianapolis Colts), DE TJ Fatinikun (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), DT Austin Brown (New Orleans Saints), LB Brandon Copeland (Detroit Lions), OL Torrian Wilson (New England Patriots), DB Nick Taylor (Saskatchewan Roughriders), WR Khalil Paden (Ottawa REDBLACKS), and QB Trevor Harris (Toronto Argonauts) as Predators players to sign NFL or CFL contracts.
Garner (6-0, 195, South Alabama) was acquired by Orlando in January. Prior to joining the Predators, he signed with the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He attended training camp with the team and played in all four preseason games, logging nine tackles and a forced fumble.
Prior to joining the Rams, Garner earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors as a senior at the University of South Alabama. A two-year starter for the Jaguars, Garner delivered 114 total tackles with one sack, 7.5 stops for loss, five interceptions, 14 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He spent his first two seasons at Navarro Junior College.
A native of Dallas, TX, Garner prepped at Colleyville Heritage High School, where he lettered in football for two seasons for the Panthers.
