ORLANDO - The Orlando Predators continued to stay active in free agency on Thursday, announcing the acquisitions of veteran defensive lineman Calvin Fance and rookie quarterback Jon Wolf. Fance spent the past two seasons with the Philadelphia Soul, while Wolf enters his first season of Arena Football following offseason stints with two NFL teams.
Fance (6-1, 255, Angelo State) saw action at both defensive end and mac linebacker as a member of the Soul. After joining the team as a rookie in 2013, he went on to collect 43.5 tackles with five sacks, six tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. Fance's production on the field caught the eye of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, who invited him to rookie minicamp in 2014.
Wolf (6-4, 220, Minnesota State-Mankato) enjoyed a stellar collegiate career at Minnesota State-Mankato. As a senior in 2013, he was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Year after racking up 3,204 yards in total offense. Wolf threw for 2,054 yards with 17 touchdowns and only two interceptions while adding 1,150 yards and 15 scores on the ground. He even caught two passes for 102 yards and two more touchdowns.
Prior to entering the AFL, Wolf attended two NFL rookie minicamps. His athletic ability earned him an invitation to Minnesota Vikings camp as a wide receiver. A week later, Wolf put his talent on display as a quarterback at Miami Dolphins rookie camp.
