Power WR/DB Royce Adams Signs with NY Jets

Royce Adams, a member of the inaugural 2011 Pittsburgh Power, has been signed by the New York Jets of the NFL. Adams becomes the first player to be signed by an NFL franchise following a tenure with the Power.

Adams, a 6'0" 190 lbs. cornerback, started the 2011 season with the Power prior to playing in the UFL, and recorded 47 solo tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 7 pass break-ups and 1 forced fumble. A former track athlete, Adams played both defensive back and wide receiver at Purdue.

"Playing with the Power in 2011 was a unique opportunity to develop as a player and learn from great coaches and veteran players," reflected Adams, "The fans make the city - I've never seen so many loyal and dedicated fans in my life. Their positive energy inspired me," Adams continued. "Game days were electrifying, I couldn't wait for game day to come around because I knew the fans would be fired up."

"Adams is a good athlete who continues to work hard on his skills as well as strength and conditioning," said Power head coach Chris Siegfried. "We wish him the best as he competes for an NFL roster spot."

The Power also announced increased local television coverage. Twelve games, including seven home dates and five away matchups will appear on WPCW, Pittsburgh's CW, in addition to the four games airing nationally on the NFL network.
