Power Assigned 4 Players, Aliquippa's Mike Washington Inks Three-Year Contract

November 5, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Pittsburgh Power News Release

With the Arena Football League's exclusive signing period coming to an end, the Pittsburgh Power have begun to build their 2013 roster with the assignment of four players from the 2012 squad, wide receiver Mike Washington, defensive back Chris LeFlore, defensive lineman Neil Purvis, and wide receiver Perry Baker.

Washington, from the University of Hawaii, has been a member of the Power since their inaugural 2011 season and has signed a three-year deal. A native of Aliquippa, PA, Mike is a product of the Power's open tryouts in 2010 and is currently the franchise leader in all major receiving categories. At Aliquippa High School, he was named to All-State (AA) by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review as a senior and helped the Quips to the AA State Championship his junior year. While at Hawaii, Washington helped the Warriors go undefeated and win the WAC championship in 2007.

Chris LeFlore, from NW Missouri State, returns on a one-year contract after setting the franchise single season interception record last season with nine. Leflore also became the first player in Pittsburgh Power history to record multiple interceptions in a single game. LeFlore began his collegiate career at the University of Nebraska before transferring to Northwest Missouri State for his senior year. Before joining the Power, LeFlore played for the AFL's Spokane Shock and Dallas Vigilantes.

Neil Purvis, from Virginia State, has been with the Power since the 2011 season and is returning to the squad for a third year on a two-year contract.

Perry Baker, from Fairmont (WV) State, returns to the Power on a one-year deal. Baker is the younger brother of former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, Dallas Baker.

The AFL free agency period began today. The Power will look to expand their roster, and will also look at potential prospects at open tryouts this Saturday, November 10 at Southpointe Fieldhouse. For tryout details and registration, please visit pittsburghpowerfootball.com.
