Valley Blue Sox News Release
HOLYOKE, MA-The Valley Blue Sox look to turn things around Sunday against the Sanford Mainers, hoping break out of their recent 4-6 game slump. The Blue Sox will take on the fourth place Mainers who sit just a half-game back of the Sox, in a Sunday matinee game at Mackenzie Field with a first pitch time of 5:05pm
Sunday has a strong lineup of promotional events occurring as well.
First is the Diamond Dig Sponsored by Steven's Jewelers. Every female fan who enters the park will be given a ticket. Every half inning, the Blue Sox will announce a number and the holder of that number will become a contestant for the dig. Once the game is over, the winners will be let onto the infield where they'll have the chance to win a whole stack of prizes - including Symphony Hall passes, Blue Sox merchandise, restaurant gift certificates - and most importantly - have the opportunity to win one of TWO, authentic diamond necklaces!
In addition, the Blue Sox will be helping to raise awareness for breast cancer tonight - as Sunday is Rays of Hope night. The players will be wearing pink-digital camo uniforms to celebrate the occasion - with said uniforms being auctioned off later this season at the July 26th home game.
Also, the Forest Park Zoo 'Zoo on the Go' program will be on hand as well! Stop by early in the game and get to meet the staff from the zoo and more importantly - some of the exotic animals that live there! They'll be all set up and ready to go for 5pm, so be sure to get to the park early.
And also - don't forget hat tonight is our Military Discount night courtesy of Yankee Candle where all members of the military get into the park for ½ off with presentation of a valid military ID.
Ace Bryan Goossens will get the start for the Blue Sox, looking to pick up his fourth win of the season. Goossens' start comes after news that six Blue Sox players, including Goossens himself, have been selected the NECBL All-Star team for the annual NECBL All-Star game that takes place on July 19.
It is set to be a beautiful day at Mackenzie Field, with the gates opening at 4pm and the first pitch is set for 5:05pm! We'll see you at the game!
