Stockton Ports News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Ports will host Education Days on Tuesday, April 20 and Wednesday, May 12, as part of their continuing commitment to supporting area students and teachers and encouraging a love of learning.
This will be the sixth consecutive season that the Ports have held Education Days at Banner Island Ballpark, and the Ports are proud to continue to partner with area schools in the organization's education programs.
Area schools are invited to turn Banner Island Ballpark into a classroom for a day, and to engage their students at an 11:05 a.m. ballgame on Tuesday, April 20 and Wednesday, May 12. Students can learn how to apply the math, statistics and physics lessons they are learning in many ways at a baseball game, such as computing a player's batting average or a pitcher's earned run average, using geometry to calculate the distance it takes a catcher to throw out a runner at second, and by calculating pitch speed.
On Education Days, the Ports combine educational themes with a fun day game. Students and teachers can take part in educational activities and events, which are held before and during the game, including a Q&A with Ports players. Students can also enjoy participating in the in-between inning promotions at the game as well.
Education Day tickets for students, teachers and administrators cost $5, and includes a ticket to the game, a hot dog, juice and a snack.
The Ports are also proud to support education by welcoming area high school students to Banner Island Ballpark for Sober Grad group outings and by making the stadium available for high school commencement ceremonies. The Ports are also excited to welcome area teachers to the May 4 home game to celebrate the national holiday, Teacher Appreciation Day.
For more information or to sign up your school for Education Day or Sober Grad group outings, please contact the Stockton Ports at (209) 644-1900.
