Portland Pirates to Host University of New Brunswick in Second Preseason Game

Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates announced today that they have added a second contest to their 2015 Preseason schedule. On Thursday, October 1, the Pirates will play host to the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds at the OA Sports Center in Saco. The game will be played at 7:00 p.m.

Admission to the game will be free to all. Youth Hockey players are invited to wear their jerseys and participate in raffles for Pirates Flex Packs and other great Pirates prizes. Pirates' Mascot Salty Pete will be on hand for the game, which will be Portland's only home game of the 2015 Preseason.

This will be the third time in four years that Portland has faced UNB, one of the top Canadian Interuniversity Sport men's hockey teams, in a preseason scrimmage. The last time they played was during the 2013 Preseason, a contest won by the Pirates 4-0. UNB was the 2015 CIS University Cup Runner-up. They last won the University Cup in 2013.

This will be the Pirates' second preseason game, as they will face the Providence Bruins at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, Massachusetts on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:05 p.m.

The Portland Pirates begin their first season as the top affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers in 2015-16! The Pirates 23rd AHL home opener is set for Saturday, October 17 at Cross Insurance Arena against the Hershey Bears!
